The Ministry of Education has reiterated its directive banning all non-academic school activities during the third term, as announced in a circular issued by Principal Secretary (PS) for Basic Education Belio Kipsang.

This follows the ongoing efforts to ensure that students focus entirely on preparing for their end-of-year examinations.

The ban, initially introduced to enhance student concentration during the critical exam period, continues to apply to co-curricular activities, including sports, drama festivals, and any other non-academic events.

"The ban on these activities still stands," stated Dr Kipsang.

"It is important that this directive is strictly adhered to by all relevant individuals and organisations," he added.

All Regional, County, and Sub-County Directors of Education have been instructed to enforce the ban within their jurisdictions and ensure that schools comply.

The circular emphasises the need for heightened focus on academic matters during this crucial term.

"This directive aims to prioritise the academic well-being of students as they prepare for their final assessments," the PS added, urging educators and school administrators to comply fully with the policy.

The Ministry’s move aligns with the government's broader goals of improving education standards and ensuring better examination outcomes for students across the country.

The Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Ogamba, and the heads of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) As well as the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) have also been informed of the directive.
