Kalonzo pours cold water on Ruto's Ukambani development tour

Wiper Patriotic Front party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has rubbished President William Ruto’s three-day charm offensive in Ukambani, branding the launch of the Emali-Matiliku road a “decoy” after heavy machinery allegedly vanished from the site within 48 hours.

Speaking on Friday, the Wiper leader said graders parked for the cameras on November 12, 2025, and were towed away by November 14, 2025, claims AVDelta News could not independently verify by the time of publication of this story.

“Shockingly, all the big machinery is gone and no work has begun. This pattern repeats itself across the country, a regime more interested in grand launches and photo opportunities than in actual progress,” Kalonzo fumed.

He said projects are announced with fanfare, but the people are left waiting for real work to happen.

This is why the whole country sings [one-term] WANTAM as our second National Anthem,” he claimed.

President Ruto wrapped up his tour of Makueni, Kitui and Machakos counties on Friday, unveiling projects and urging locals to ditch opposition politics.

Ukambani remains Mr Musyoka’s political stronghold and the heartland of his Wiper party.

Mr Musyoka, who is in the United Opposition fold, accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of staging photo-ops instead of delivering lasting infrastructure.

“People see through the circus where they are only left with monuments - plagues - bearing details of President launching the project. Nothing more,” he told a roadside rally.

He insisted that empty launches won’t buy votes.

The President had insisted the trips were about “walking the talk” on development, listing tarmacking, affordable housing schemes, and market upgrades.

Yet videos doing rounds show hecklers chanting against a second term.

The spat underscores growing friction between State House and the opposition heartlands, with infrastructure promises now a key battleground ahead of the polls.
