In a landmark effort to elevate swimming standards in the country, Kenya Aquatics has unveiled plans for a one-day swimming meet and team manager training clinic.
The event is slated for January 18, 2025, at Khadija Secondary School in Mombasa.
The clinic, which targets coaches and team managers from the six(6) coastal counties--Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, Taita Taveta, and Tana River--aims to enhance proficiency in using meet and team manager swimming software.
This reflects the growing importance of technology in competitive swimming and Kenya’s drive to stay ahead in the sport.
Speaking about the initiative, Mr Kevin Jwaya, a prominent figure in Mombasa’s swimming community, shared his enthusiasm.
“This clinic is a game-changer for the Coast region. It will enhance the capacity of our coaches and team managers, ultimately improving our swimming standards," Mr Jwaya said.
“I urge all my colleagues in the region to register early and not miss this opportunity. We deeply appreciate Kenya Aquatics for decentralising these crucial training sessions, following the success of the recent beach water polo coaching clinic,” he added.
The training aligns with Kenya Aquatics’ mission to decentralise access to essential resources and introduce modern tools to regional stakeholders.
Previous efforts, such as the beach water polo coaching clinic, have already shown significant impact by equipping local enthusiasts with innovative techniques.
The Coast International Schools Sports Association (CISSA) is also embracing the momentum, scheduling water polo fixtures for juniors and seniors to promote the sport further.
Kenya Aquatics, the national body for aquatic sports, continues to prioritize capacity-building programs to empower regional stakeholders.
By making these training opportunities accessible, they are paving the way for a new era of excellence in aquatic sports across Kenya.
Coaches and team managers are encouraged to register early for this groundbreaking clinic, which promises to revolutionise the management of swimming meets and teams.
