Lamu Deputy Governor Raphael Munyua is dead

President William Ruto has sent condolence following the death of Lamu Deputy Governor Raphael Munyua.
Dr Ruto eulogised the late Munyua as a dedicated and progressive leader.
"He was a progressive leader who worked tirelessly for the greater good of the people of Lamu," the Head of State said.
"Our love and prayers to the family, friends and the people of Lamu County at this sad moment," he added.
Munyua was the deputy to Lamu Governor Issa Timamy from 2022.
The Deputy Governor died while receiving treatment at a hospital in Nairobi.
He died on Friday at around 6pm in a Nairobi hospital while undergoing treatment. This is according to a family source.
According to Lamu County Secretary Abass Ali, Munyua was a devoted leader who served the residents and remained loyal to his boss.
Mr Ali confirmed that the Deputy Governor was rushed to hospital after complaining of headache.
Munyua was a bank manager before joining politics in 2017.
After the 2017 General Election, he served under the regime of former Governor Fahim Twaha as the County Executive Member for Health.
