Nominated MP Joseph Denar dies
Nominated Amani National Congress (ANC) MP Joseph Hamisi Denar has died.
He passed away at about 7:00am on Saturday.
Denar served on the Departmental Committee on Sports and Culture, and the Select Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunities.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula described Denar as humble and committed.
“His passing is a great loss not only to the House but also to the nation at large,” he said.
He has appointed a committee led by Deputy Leader of the Majority Party Mr Owen Baya to liaise with the family and coordinate a befitting send‑off.
He said further details will be communicated soon.
The death comes at a time when many Kenyan MPs are in Kampala, Uganda, participating in the 15th EAC Inter‑Parliamentary Games, scheduled to run from 5 to 17 December 2025.
Born in 1969 in Kinango Kwale County, Denar attended Mombasa Baptist High School before earning a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (2000) and a Master’s in International Business Administration (2002) at United States International University (USIU).
He later obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi in 2006.
Before joining Parliament, Denar held several public service positions.
He was a Director at the Coast Development Authority, Commissioner at the former Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK), Director at Kenya Airports Authority, Director at Kenya National Accreditation Services, and he also served on the councils of the University of Nairobi and Moi University.
Tributes have started flowing from colleagues and political circles.
