With title leader Max Verstappen starting next to him on the first row, Lando Norris has taken pole position for the Singapore Grand Prix.
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton secured third place for Mercedes in an exciting qualifying session, while teammate George Russell finished fourth.
The McLaren driver Oscar Piastri completed the top five(5) following a spectacular sequence of events, including Carlos Sainz's Ferrari crashing, which momentarily stopped the practice.
With his fifth pole of the year and sixth overall, Norris has been in excellent form lately.
"It felt amazing, and with confidence, you can push for those fast lap times," Norris said, emphasising his impressive results from the two practice sessions that preceded qualifying.
Verstappen, who leads Norris by 59 points in the championship, acknowledged the importance of starting position in a race when overtaking may be difficult.
In light of his struggles in the previous sessions, the Red Bull driver expressed satisfaction with his second-place qualifying finish.
Hamilton, who was celebrating his 350th Grand Prix, was relieved to qualify third, especially after Mercedes had a difficult period. Russell was pleased with his excellent fourth place finish despite his earlier tire grip problems.
With every driver conscious that anything can happen before the chequered flag drops, all eyes will be on the Marina Bay track as the grid sets for what looks to be an entertaining race.
