Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has offered words of encouragement to former Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Public Service Moses Kuria following his departure from office after President William Ruto reshuffled his Cabinet in July.

Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Gachagua reassured Mr Kuria that he should not be discouraged by the loss of his position, expressing confidence that he will find new opportunities.

Drawing on a popular saying, Mr Gachagua remarked, “For my brother Moses Kuria, when one door closes, God opens another.”

Mr Kuria was one of the CSs not reappointed to the new Cabinet that has come to be known as ‘broad-based’ following remarks by Dr Ruto that he was reconstituting the Cabinet “to bring everyone on board”.

Mr Kuria’s dismissal has sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans, with some expressing sympathy and others calling for his reinstatement.

Comments from the public ranged from, “He should have been allowed to complete his work,” to more lighthearted remarks like, “Poor Kuria.”

Meanwhile, Mr Kuria opened up about the changes in his life since his exit from the Cabinet.

In an interview on August 12, 2024, he shared that his phone had become unusually quiet, joking that he even considered taking it to a repair shop, thinking it might be malfunctioning.

Despite the challenges, Mr Kuria acknowledged that the highs and lows are part of life for any national public servant.
