Reappoint Linturi or we rethink in 2027, his allies tell President Ruto

A section of Meru politicians allied to former Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi have urged President William Ruto to reappoint him to serve in another capacity.
They said if Mr Linturi misses to get any government job, they will have to rethink in 2027.
They said Mr Linturi was a key factor in making sure Meru voters overwhelmingly elect Kenya Kwanza coalition's allied politicians including President Ruto.
Mr Mithika Mzalendo who lost to John Paul Mwirigi in 2022 General Election, Ms Felicity Biriri who was second in Meru Woman Representative race, and a host of current and former MCAs, said if loyalty is to be rewarded, then President Ruto should consider giving any post to Mr Linturi.
"Mr Linturi was bundled out of the Cabinet in an unceremonious manner. We know he did no wrong. He was very competent. We request the President to consider him again. Once one path is closed, we must find another route. Meru people should not give up on him," Ms Biriri said.
She expressed confidence that this time round she will clinch the Woman Rep seat.
"We demand good leadership in this county. Last elections, I was number two(2) and often number two(2) becomes number one(1). The love I have seen people have for me lately, I am confident I will take over to be your Woman Representative," she said at Auki in Igembe South.
Mr Linturi was present at the function.
Ms Biriri appealed to parents to enroll their children in technical institutions to acquire skills that can transform their future lives.
Mr Mzalendo said they fought night and day, strategising for campaigns in the whole Meru seeking votes for the President because they had a promise that Mr Linturi would be part of Dr Ruto's government.
Mr Linturi was seeking the Meru gubernatorial seat which he lost. Ms Kawira Mwangaza won after trouncing another heavyweight Kiraitu Murungi.
Former MCA Nturibi Etirikia alleged that Mr Linturi's job was cut off by the nine(9) Meru MPs due to jealousy who suggested his sacking.
"Can you imagine innocent Linturi's job as CS Agriculture was sacrificed by our MPs? When they were asked if Mr Linturi should be reappointed after the Cabinet was dissolved, they all said no. He can't use and dump people. We sought Ruto's votes night and day, we want the promise fulfilled," Etirikia claimed.
