Celebrated journalist Eric Latiff has announced his departure from Spice FM and the Standard Group, marking the end of an illustrious chapter in Kenya’s media landscape.

In a statement, Latiff reflected on his journey as a co-creator of “The Situation Room,” Kenya’s premier talk radio show.

Launched on August 20, 2019, “The Situation Room” quickly carved a niche as the home of Kenya’s Biggest Conversations.

With co-hosts CT Muga, Ndu Okoh, and Njeri Thorne, Latiff navigated the uncharted territory of a four-hour, non-stop talk show designed to engage the nation during the busy morning commute.

Backed by a dynamic team, including producer Brian Evusa and Programmes Controller Brian Obara, the show became a platform for thought leaders, professionals, and community influencers.

Latiff credited the success of “The Situation Room” to the unwavering dedication of his colleagues and the enthusiastic audience that tuned in on radio, TV, and digital platforms.

“It’s humbling whenever people reach out on calls, text, or approach us with compliments, comments, and suggestions for the show,” he remarked.

He played a pivotal role in launching groundbreaking media outlets in Kenya, including the country’s first 24-hour religious media house, Family FM and Family TV, the first vernacular radio station, Kameme FM, and the first 24-hour news channel, K24.

His contributions have cemented his reputation as a visionary in the industry.

On January 6, Latiff bid an emotional farewell to his colleagues across radio, TV, and print divisions at the Standard Group.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to once again be a part of Kenya’s oldest private media house and proud of the teams I leave behind,” he wrote.

While his departure leaves a void, Latiff hinted at future endeavors, leaving fans and colleagues in suspense.

“I love the thrill of creating and starting new things, and I have been blessed to do just that,” he noted, teasing, “Is there room for something new? Of course, always, and I sure hope to be a part of it soon.”
