The Kenyan-born alpine skier, Africa’s trailblazing “Snow Leopard,” has partnered with Infinix NOTE Edge to amplify stories of resilience, ambition and possibility.
Sabrina Simader’s latest chapter is not being written on the Olympic slopes, but through a powerful collaboration with Infinix that continues her mission of inspiring the next generation beyond competitive sport.
The Kenyan-born alpine skier, Africa’s trailblazing “Snow Leopard,” has partnered with Infinix NOTE Edge to amplify stories of resilience, ambition and possibility, values that mirror her own groundbreaking journey as Kenya’s first female Winter Olympian.
Despite hopes of a dramatic return, Simader has confirmed she will not come out of retirement to compete at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. The 27-year-old revealed that plans for a second Olympic appearance unraveled after months of uncertainty and logistical setbacks following her retirement in July 2025.
“Unfortunately, I'm not participating as it was quite a rollercoaster the last weeks and months for me, up and down, forward and backward,” Simader said. “I tried to do a second comeback after retiring in summer, but unfortunately things didn’t work out as planned with my NOC.”
Simader, who was born in Kenya and relocated to Austria at three years old, explained that delays hampered preparations, forcing her to train inconsistently while personally pre-investing funds in the hope of making one final Olympic appearance. “It would have been cool to make the final race at the Olympic Games, but it didn’t work out,” she added.
Widely regarded as a pioneer of winter sports in Africa, Simader had qualified for what would have been her second Olympic Games alongside France-born compatriot Issa Laborde, having previously represented Kenya at PyeongChang 2018. Born in Kenya and raised in Austria from the age of three, her presence on the global snow stage shattered long-standing stereotypes about who belongs in winter sport.
Yet Simader remains forward-looking. “When a door closes, another one will open,” she explained. “I’m still looking forward to inspiring the next generation.” She is currently developing a major grassroots initiative, the Ski Camp of Colours, aimed at nurturing young talent and widening access to winter sports.
That vision aligns seamlessly with her collaboration with Infinix, which coincides with the Kenyan launch of the Infinix NOTE Edge. The partnership positions Simader not just as an athlete, but as a storyteller and symbol of possibility, capturing and sharing Olympic moments through technology designed to push boundaries. Her story will later be expanded into a standalone feature exploring how innovation fuels dreams in unexpected places.
Launched globally in Kenya on February 5, 2026, the Infinix NOTE Edge is the world’s first smartphone powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 5G platform and runs on the all-new Android 16 with XOS 16. Built around Infinix’s “Dream Booster” concept, the device prioritises long-term reliability, intelligent performance and battery longevity.
Its standout feature is a 6,150mAh self-healing battery, he largest Infinix has introduced in Kenya, capable of maintaining over 80 per cent capacity after 2,000 charge cycles, translating to up to six years of everyday use. With a slim 7.2mm curved design, advanced AI features and sustained 5G efficiency, the NOTE Edge is tailored for modern, always-connected lifestyles.
Priced from Sh32,999 and now available nationwide, the NOTE Edge reflects Infinix’s commitment to lasting value. For Simader, the collaboration represents continuity rather than closure. “I am so excited about this collaboration with Infinix NOTE Edge,” she told AVDelta News on February 5, 2026, proof that while her Olympic race has ended, her impact is far from over.
