Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Ali Hassan Joho joined East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) member and businessman Suleiman Shahbal, to break fast with players, officials, and fans of Mombasa United Football Club.

The Saturday evening quickly moved from dates and samosas to serious discussion about the club’s ambitions to compete in the Kenya Premier League.

Leaders talked openly about raising resources, strengthening management, and investing in young talent--key steps to make the club a force in top-flight football.

“When the team wins, Mombasa wins”

Mr Joho told the crowd: “When we invest in our teams, we invest in our young people. And when Mombasa United rises, the entire county rises with it.”

Political heavyweights at the table

The Iftar also brought together:

  • Mishi Juma Mboko, MP for Likoni Constituency
  • Omar Mwinyi Shimbwa, MP for Changamwe Constituency
  • Joab Tumbo, Board Member, Bandari Maritime Academy
  • Abdirahman Hussen 'AnzaFresh', Old Town MCA, and several other Members of the Mombasa County Assembly

Their presence sent a strong signal: local leadership is watching, supporting, and ready to back structural reforms that could finally push Mombasa United to the top.
