Mathew Tuta inspires SJAK to switch off Azam TV 8–2 in friendly

Tuta’s two goals set the tone for a one-sided encounter in which SJAK displayed superior fitness, cohesion and attacking flair against Azam TV.

Mathew Tuta stole the show with a brilliant brace as Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK FC) cruised to a dominant 8-2 victory over Azam TV in a friendly football match played at the Kenya School of Law grounds in Karen, Nairobi, on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Tuta’s two goals set the tone for a one-sided encounter in which SJAK displayed superior fitness, cohesion and attacking flair.

He was well supported on the scoresheet by Steve Ayoo, Stephen Ochieng, Brian Amulyoto, Benson Dibo, Alvin Arocho and Erick “Opong” Ochieng, all of whom got on the scoresheet in a ruthless attacking performance.

Azam TV, despite being largely outplayed, showed resilience through Salim Ali, the broadcaster’s lead commentator, who grabbed a brace for his side to provide some consolation.

The match marked SJAK’s opening fixture of the year, with the association having lined up several local and international friendlies as part of their preparation calendar.

“We have a number of high-end fixtures this year, and we were using this game to gauge our level of fitness. We have planned for at least two friendly matches every month as we gear up for other international battles,” said SJAK Executive Committee member Beki Mwamburi, who attended the match.
“Winning this match by such a huge margin is an indication of good tidings ahead for us.”

Azam TV members present were encouraged to join SJAK, a professional body that champions the rights and welfare of sports journalists.

Later this month, SJAK members will travel to Mombasa for an intensive four-day Anti-Doping training programme to be conducted by the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK).

“I’m happy to finally be a full SJAK member,” said Anita Omwenga of the Kenya News Agency.

“Today, I had the opportunity to attend the association’s football fixture and interact with like-minded colleagues. I’m really looking forward to traveling to the coast with SJAK.”
