Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen hails progress in security operations across Turkana, Laikipia and vows firm action against bandits and abettors.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has commended the ongoing security operations in parts of the Kerio Valley and Northern Kenya regions.
Speaking during a Sunday church service at AIC Kapsowar Sanctuary in Elgeyo-Marakwet County, CS Murkomen said significant progress has been made since the launch of recent security operations.
“The country is largely secure despite a few isolated incidents. The ongoing operations, which we launched recently along the Turkana-West Pokot border, in Mukogodo Forest around the Laikipia-Isiolo border, and in Samburu, are already yielding positive results,” said the CS.
He issued a stern warning to individuals abetting banditry, stating that the government will take decisive action against them regardless of their community or political affiliation.
“We will deal firmly with banditry. Those who shield criminals will not be spared,” he warned.
The CS further announced that the same firm and decisive approach will be applied in tackling emerging criminal gangs in parts of the country.
“I assure Kenyans that we will confront these gangs decisively and deal with them with finality,” he added.
The CS also commended the Clergy for its continued role in promoting peace and unity among communities, emphasizing that collaboration with religious institutions remains key to the government’s efforts to stabilise areas still experiencing sporadic insecurity.
The CS has announced a serious crackdown by security agents to flush out the bandits.
Present were Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, Governor Wisley Rotich, Senator William Kisang, MPs Timothy Kipchumba (Marakwet West) and Caroline Ng’elechei (County), CBK Deputy Governor Dr Susan Koech, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Board Chairperson Caleb Kositany, among other leaders and stakeholders.
