Nondies, who are coached by Moses Wanyaga, proved they were up to the task by thrashing Menengai Oilers 35-17.

Nondescripts and Kenyatta University's Blak Blad will play in the 2025-2026 Kenya Cup semi-final after putting up some huge performances against pre-match favourites hosts Menengai Oilers and Strathmore Leos in top-six playoffs on Saturday, respectively.

Nakuru-based Oilers, who lost in last season's final to Kabras Sugar from Kakamega and had finished third in the regular season in 2025-2026, suffered a humiliating 35-17 loss at the hands of record former champions Nondies in Nakuru to bow out.

Gibson Weru's Oilers were favourites not just to beat Nondies, but also to reach the final again. But, it was not to be after Nondies, who are coached by Moses Wanyaga, proved they were up to the task. Nondies finished the regular season in sixth spot.

Blad Blad, who came fifth in the regular season, stunned Strathmore, who had finished fourth, 27-25.

Nondies will now face former winners KCB in semi-final as Blak Blad duel Kabras who are chasing for their fifth straight Kenya Cup trophy. Kabras and KCB came first and second in the regular season of the 12-team league, respectively.

Sugarmillers Kabras are unbeaten in 50 Kenya Cup matches. They were tested by Blak Blad in the regular season and therefore it is a match fans will be waiting for eagerly.

Elsewhere, 1985 Kenya Cup winners Mwamba are back in the big-league after one season in the second-tier thanks to their 41-26 victory over Catholic Monks in Kenya Rugby Union Championship semi-final at the Goan Institute grounds in Pangani on Saturday.

The Cougars of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuat) will be the newest side ever in Kenya Cup. They mauled former Kenya Cup outfit Homeboyz 40-9 to gain promotion for the first time in the history.

Meanwhile, Kenya Shujaa will face France in seventh place final at the Hong Kong Sevens on Sunday morning.
