Ruto jets to China for high-stakes FOCAC summit

• The head of state will be attending the 9th forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in Beijing.
President William Ruto is set to embark on an official visit to Beijing, China this evening.
The head of state will be attending the 9th forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit.
The summit will bring together different heads of states from Africa, China leaders, and African Union Commission (AUC) to discuss and strengthen Sino-African relations.
According to a dispatch released on Sunday, the head of state is also expected to participate in several other high profile meetings to explore new collaborations.
"Ruto's visit is anticipated to yield significant benefits such as: strengthen strategic partnership with China, agreement on support for infrastructure development such as construction of rural roads across the country, and conclusion of discussion on new cooperation projects such as SGR phases 2B and 2C," said State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed.
President Ruto will also have a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and exploring new areas of cooperation between Kenya and China.
