Three suspects arrested in connection with Sh3m theft in Nairobi

The stolen items were reported missing from the home of a South Sudanese national in Westlands on September 24, 2024.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested three(3) suspects in connection with the theft of electronic gadgets, $24,500 (Sh3.16 million) in cash, and other valuable items.
According to the DCI, the suspects, Lenah Khamatioli,28, Ian Kavaya,28, and Peninah Mutola,32, were apprehended in Kawangware after a weeks-long search.
The stolen items were reported missing from the home of a South Sudanese national in Westlands on September 24, 2024, leading to a report being filed at the DCI Kilimani offices.
"The homeowner returned to her residence on Rahpta Road to discover her housemaid missing, along with $24,500, an iPhone 15, a Samsung Z Flip, and various pieces of jewellery," the DCI said.
During the arrest, detectives recovered a variety of items, including a Boxer motorcycle, a 55-inch Vitron television, a Hanmac microwave, an HP laptop, a NNix cooker oven, a 6kg Pro gas cylinder, a five-seater sofa, a mattress, two(2) watches, and three(3) brand-new Samsung A50 smartphones.
Authorities also confiscated a Sh423,000 agreement to purchase a piece of land in Kapkangani, Nandi County.
The suspects are currently in police custody as detectives continue their search for more accomplices and any remaining stolen items.
