In a day packed with transfer drama, top clubs in Europe on Thursday were busy making high-profile signings to strengthen their squads for this new season.

Bournemouth, Napoli, and Liverpool all made key additions, each deal promising to have a significant impact on the teams' campaigns.

Bournemouth secured the signing of Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea on a season-long loan.

The 29-year-old extended his contract with Chelsea until 2026 before finalising the move, ensuring that he won’t leave for free at the end of his loan spell.

Kepa, who joined Chelsea in 2018 for a record £71 million (Sh12 billion) fee, spent last season at Real Madrid, where he made 20 appearances and played a key role in helping them clinch La Liga and Champions League titles.

Elsewhere, Napoli completed the signing of Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea. While the financial details remain undisclosed, reports indicate that Napoli paid £30 million for the 31-year-old.

The move reunites Lukaku with manager Antonio Conte, with whom he thrived during his time at Inter Milan between 2019 and 2021.

Despite rejoining Chelsea in 2021 for £97.5 million, Lukaku has spent the last two seasons on loan at Inter and AS Roma, and his return to Serie A promises to boost Napoli’s chances of defending their league title.

In another major move, Liverpool completed the signing of Italian forward Federico Chiesa from Juventus. The deal, worth an initial €12 million (Sh1.7 billion) plus €3 million in add-ons, adds even more firepower to an already strong attacking lineup.

Chiesa, who bounced back from a knee injury in 2022, scored 10 goals in 37 appearances last season for Juventus.

Capable of playing through the centre or on the wing, the versatile winger expressed his excitement about joining Liverpool, citing the club’s rich history and his desire to win trophies.

These signings mark a busy transfer window as Bournemouth, Napoli, and Liverpool look to make their mark on both domestic and European competitions this season.
