Police detain a man suspected of stabbing another in love triangle

Police in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area are holding a man suspected to have stabbed a 29-year-old man in what they suspect to be a love triangle dispute.
Sharmerka Abdi sustained serious injuries to his neck and head during the Thursday incident and was rushed to Care Hospital where he is in stable condition.
The primary suspect, who is known to the victim is awaiting formal charges while police continue searching for other suspects involved in the altercation.
The police say there is a tendency for clan elders to interfere in cases and try to settle them out of court.
This, according to them, encourages impunity and does not respect the rule of law.
Police are also investigating a new wave of attacks and counter-attacks by gangs in the area in Somali clan and tribal disputes.
Up to six(6) incidents have been reported in Eastleigh in recent weeks, with clan-based gangs attacking perceived enemies.
Most of those involved in the fighting are from Somalia, police say.
Victims have been left with life-threatening injuries amid calls for action to stop the trend and bring those responsible to justice.
A team of detectives is combing the area to track down those behind the attacks, police said.
Police say they are also investigating the immigration status of those involved in the fights, amid complaints that some are attacking their targets and fleeing to their country.
