Babu Owino says he is recovering after medical procedure

Mr Owino also turned his thoughts to Kenyans who spent the festive season in hospital, away from their families.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has reassured Kenyans that he is recovering after undergoing a medical procedure.

He thanked supporters for the prayers and goodwill messages he has received.

In a Facebook post shared on Sunday, Mr Owino said the concern shown by Kenyans had strengthened him and his family.

He described the messages, prayers and expressions of solidarity as overwhelming.

The legislator said he chose to speak openly about his health in the spirit of transparency expected of public servants.

He disclosed that he recently fell ill and underwent a medical procedure.

He added that his recovery is progressing well and that he hopes to resume his public duties in the new year.

“By God’s grace, I am now on the path to recovery, and I remain hopeful and determined to resume my public duties in the new year,” he wrote.

Mr Owino’s post attracted hundreds of reactions on social media. Many Kenyans wished him a quick recovery and assured him of continued prayers.

Others thanked him for addressing his health publicly and urged him to prioritise rest as he heals.

Some supporters said the update eased anxiety that had grown after reports circulated earlier this month that the MP had been admitted to hospital in Nairobi.

The lack of official information at the time had fuelled speculation about his condition.

Mr Owino also turned his thoughts to Kenyans who spent the Christmas season in hospital, away from their families.

He said no Kenyan should feel alone in suffering or be pushed into despair by illness or poverty.

To underline his message, the MP quoted Jeremiah 30:17, a verse that speaks of healing and restoration. The passage is often cited to offer hope to those facing illness and hardship.
