Chuka-Igambang'ombe MP aspirant calls on Meru to unite behind Kithure Kindiki for 2032 presidency
A businessman and Chuka Igambang’ombe parliamentary aspirant, Muthomi Micheni alias 810, has urged the Meru community to consolidate its political support behind Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, arguing that the region should not wait for decades to produce a national leader.
Mr Muthomi, who is also a political analyst and philanthropist, said Kindiki’s current position as Deputy President places him in a strong succession trajectory and gives the community a realistic pathway to the presidency.
Speaking during a televised interview, he dismissed the argument that numerical strength alone determines leadership outcomes, saying minority communities can still influence national politics through unity and strategic alliances.
“It is not a must that Kenya must be ruled by only the populous communities. Minority communities in this country have the numbers. When they come together with others and get support from the populous communities, Prof Kindiki can ascend to the presidency,” he said.
Mr Muthomi expressed confidence that Prof Kindiki could make history as the first President from a minority community, adding that he personally trusts his leadership credentials and integrity.
“I am confident I will be at State House in 2032. I have known Prof Kindiki for a long time, and I see him as a leader of integrity with a clean record,” he said.
He further pointed to Kindiki’s previous service as a two-term Senator and his tenure as Interior Cabinet Secretary, describing him as a high-performing leader within government.
Mr Muthomi cautioned that failure by the Meru community to align behind Kindiki in the 2027 elections alongside President William Ruto could push the region further away from the country’s top leadership.
“If we make a mistake in 2027, it could take another 40 to 50 years to get near the presidency again,” he warned.
He added that while the community has long awaited elevation in national leadership, it should remain patient and strategic to secure the presidency through Kindiki’s political ascent.
“We have waited for over 60 years to get the Deputy President position. We can wait five more years to get the presidency,” he said.
