JKIA to undergo reforms for better services: Gov't

The government is prioritizing automation in customs and immigration to reduce waiting time and paperwork, aligning JKIA with global airport standards.

In a bid to improve the experience at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), the government has rolled out comprehensive reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency, security, and customer service for travelers.

"The new changes will ensure a seamless, efficient, and respectful experience for travelers arriving and departing from JKIA,"said the CSs in a joint press release.

This is according to joint press statement released on Monday, Cabinet Secretary Ministry of National Treasury and Economic Planning John Mbadi, Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Roads and Transport Davis Chirchir, Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage Rebecca Miano, and Principal Secretary State department for internal Security and National Administration Raymond Omollo.

The government is prioritizing automation in customs and immigration to reduce waiting time and paperwork, aligning JKIA with global airport standards.

"The new changes will ensure a seamless, efficient, and respectful experience for travelers arriving and departing from JKIA,"they said.

Security in VIP and restricted areas will be reinforced, with access strictly limited to authorized personnel.

"Only those permitted will operate within secure zones, ensuring JKIA’s integrity," they added.

Additionally, customer service training for all officials will be mandatory.

This will promote professionalism and courtesy across all JKIA touchpoints, reaffirming Kenya’s image as a friendly and hospitable destination.

These efforts position JKIA as a world-class aviation hub, making Kenya a welcoming destination for all.

Through these reforms, Kenya aims to make JKIA a premier gateway, promoting the "Magical Kenya" brand and boosting the country's tourism profile.
