Kiambu nominated MCA Ezra Kihara killed in a road crash

He was described as a young leader who had strong leadership skills.

Kiambu nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) Ezra Kabuga Kihara has died.

Kihara tragically lost his life in a road accident near Mang'u High School along Thika Road early Sunday morning after his vehicle collided with a truck and caught fire.

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi confirmed the incident, which occurred near Mangu High School, through his communications team, expressing deep sorrow at the loss of the young leader.

“It was with a deep sense of loss that I received the sad news of the death of the nominated Member of the County Assembly, Hon. Ezra Kabuga Kihara,” he said.

Wamatangi described Kihara as a "vibrant and promising young leader" whose passion for service was evident in his work for the people of Kiambu.

“His contributions to the county assembly will be remembered as a testament to his dedication. He was a kind and friendly person who always sought to improve the lives of those around him,” the governor said.

A police report on the accident says Kihara died when his car, a Subaru Forester, rammed a lorry from behind.

“On reaching the location of the accident, the driver of the Forester rammed the rear of Isuzu FRR lorry. As a result, the driver of the Subaru Forester died on the spot,” reads part of the report.

His body was moved to Montezuma Funeral Home, awaiting postmodern, while both motor vehicles were towed to a local police station for inspection.

In his heartfelt message, Wamatangi acknowledged the pain of losing such a dedicated legislator, saying, “It is heartbreaking to lose such a young, dedicated legislator with so much promise for the future. At this difficult time, I stand with the family in grief and prayer. May God give you strength and comfort as you cope with this immense loss. We share your grief and honour his memory, which will live on in the legacy he leaves behind”.

The governor extended his condolences to Kabugi's family and urged them to accept the sympathy of the county government and the people of Kiambu.

“On behalf of my family, the Kiambu County Government and the great people of Kiambu, I urge Hon. Kihara's family and the County Assembly to accept our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he added.

His sudden death leaves a significant void in the County Assembly where his leadership and dedication earned him recognition as a future leader with immense potential.
