Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti defends record as counties benchmark

Governor Wavinya Ndeti on Sunday defended her development record, noting Makueni MCAs visited Machakos to benchmark roads and water projects.

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has defended her development record saying other counties are now visiting Machakos to benchmark.

Speaking at St Mary's Catholic Church in Tala on Sunday, Governor Ndeti highlited various projects in road infrastructure and water,a adding that the neighbouring Makueni County MCAs had recently visited Machakos on a benchmarking tour.

She said she had faithfully implemented her manifesto despite financial constraints.

"I have been in office for three years now and I have worked to implement my manifesto. I promised you good roads and the first road that I tarmacked is in Tala. I have done more than six tarmack roads now and even Makueni MCAs were here on a benchmarking tour," said Governor Ndeti.

Among the roads tarmacked by Governor Ndeti administration include Kincar-Airport road, Gossip road in Mlolongo, Kaviani-Kathalani road in Kathiani, Tala buspark road and Katangi-Ikombe road in Yatta Sub-county.

Governor ndeti said she had also sunk a number of boreholes, but added that her government priority was to harvest rain water through construction of dams and weirs as more boreholes would deplete underground aquivers.

Governor Ndeti cautioned against vandalism of borehole equipment, adding that those engaging in the vice were hurting ordinary residents who depend on the same to get the water resource.

She cited the Ngalalya borehole which was meant to supply water to Tala town and its environs regretting that some people had vandalised the equipment.

The Governor also asked property developers to ensure they had a proper plan for sewage disposal whenever putting up buildings so as not cause pollution to the environment and pose danger to neighbours.

She said stern action will be taken to safeguard the environment from unscrupulous developers.
