Matungulu MP disburses Sh51.9m NG-CDF bursaries to needy students

Matungulu MP Stephen Mule distributed Sh51.9 million in NG-CDF bursaries to needy students to ensure none misses education due to lack of fees.

Matungulu Constituency will spend Sh51.9 million on Education Fund bursaries from the NG-CDF for needy students in secondary schools, middle-level colleges, and universities.

Speaking at St Barbra Tala Girls High School on Wednesday while distributing cheques, area MP Stephen Mule said the funds were disbursed to selected students from all wards based on their needs in order to ensure none of them fails to achieve their academic goals due to lack of fees.

He revealed that the students benefited from the funds after his committee had scrutinised them to ascertain that only deserving cases benefited.

“We are investing in the education of our children to enable them to secure a better future by ensuring that no single child fails to access education on account of poor family background or lack of fees,” the lawmaker said.

He said his office is committed to promoting education in the area and told the students to keep off drugs and work hard in order to achieve their dreams.

He added that their parents look towards them.

“We cannot achieve our development goals if we fail to invest in education because education is the best investment which can be given to children to help them in their future lives,” Dr Mule said.

He pointed out that beneficiaries are bright and needy students from poor families.

Dr Mule also called on teachers, students, parents, sponsors and locals to work towards registering better academic performance.

He also asked principals in the region not to send students home due to school fees balances, but instead talk with their parents to find a better solution.

The MP also called on parents in the region to support measures aimed at improving education standards.

“It is important for parents to remember they have a huge role to play in supporting improvement of education standards,” said the legislator.
