Tharaka Nithi Principals threatening their juniors to return to class have been put on notice by the Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers (Kuppet) officials.
The Kuppet officials in Tharaka Nithi county led by the branch secretary general Patrick Gitonga, maintained that despite the court order issued by the High Court on Tuesday, teachers will not go back to class until the government honours their grievances.
Speaking during the protests on Friday, Mr Gitonga underscored that the teachers would continue with their protests.
He further claimed that TSC going to court is a clear indication that the Commission and the government at large, is not willing to address their demands.
Mr Gitonga further explained that the government has been taking them for granted by giving them meaningless promises and asked teachers not to turn back until their demands are met.
"Until the time the government will fulfill our demands as it promised, that is when we will get back to classes to teach learners," he said.
The branch official lamented that since they have not seen any commitment by the TSC or the Ministry of Education to meet their demands, their strike is there to stay and they want the government to know they are not going back to classrooms until they get what they have been negotiating for.
"I am cautioning the Principals who are trying to intimidate teachers and harassing them to go back to class. This is purely undermining the strike. All teachers should understand they will also benefit and this fight is for all of us," he stated
He also added that teachers who are not on strike are traitors and urged them to cooperate with others because they will also benefit.
