Kenya’s Parliamentary teams shine with netball and volleyball wins in Kampala

The Parliament of Kenya Netball team overcame an early setback to claim a 21-16 victory over Burundi.

Kenya’s Parliamentary sports teams delivered outstanding performances in Kampala on Wednesday, defeating Burundi in netball and Uganda in men’s volleyball at Makerere University’s indoor facilities.

The Parliament of Kenya Netball team overcame an early setback to claim a 21-16 victory over Burundi.

Despite a strong first quarter, Kenya fell behind 6-4, with Burundi converting more scoring opportunities.

However, Kenya dominated the next three quarters, winning 12-7, 15-13, and finishing 21-16.

The team’s resilience and strategic play turned the game around, thrilling the Kenyan supporters.

West Pokot Woman Representative Rael Kasiwai, eas the top goal scorer.

Elgeyo/Matakwet Woman Representative Caroline Ngelechei, was a top goal attacker, while

Bomet Woman Representative Linet Toto, statred in defense.

Other key contributors were Ms Esther Passaris, Ms Catherine Omanyo, Ms Irene Mayaka, Ms Pauline Lenkuris, Ms Rebecca Tonkei, Ms Mary Emase, Ms Beatrice Kemei, and Mr Kasim Umulkher.

“We showed great resilience after the first quarter,” said a team official.

“The players kept their focus and executed our strategy perfectly.”

In the men’s volleyball match, Team Kenya held off Uganda to secure a 3-1 victory.

Kenya won the first set 25-22, lost the second 12-25, then edged Uganda in the third 25-23, and finished the match 25-22 in the fourth set.

The team was captained by Mwingi North MP Paul Nzengu, with star performances from Mr Dan Wanyama (Webuye West), whose spikes and setting skills proved decisive.

Other members included Brighton Yegon (Konoin), Duncan Maina (Nyeri Town), Victor Koech Mandazi (Chepalungu),  Alfred Mutai (Kuresoi North), Josses Lelmengit (Emgwen), Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago, Robert Basil (Yatta), Seki Ole Lenku (Kajiado Senator) and Mr Vincent Chemitei (Baringo Senator).

“Team Kenya’s composure and teamwork carried them to victory despite Uganda’s relentless efforts,” said PSC Commissioner Ms Joyce Korir, leading the Kenyan cheering squad.
