Ruto to Kenyans: 'Don't give up on Kenya Kwanza administration'

President William Ruto has defended his administration against accusations of not delivering his development manifesto to Kenyans.

According to President Ruto, the Kenya Kwanza administration has done a lot to Kenyans in its three(3) years in office.

He cited the subsidised fertiliser programme which he said has boosted food production in the country.

President Ruto, who spoke when he attended an interdenominational church service at AIC Kapng'etik in Elgeyo Marakwet County on Sunday, reiterated his administration's commitment to support farmers to enhance food security in the country.

"My administration is committed to ensuring food productivity and enhance earnings for our farmers," said President Ruto.

He reiterated that all Kenya Kwanza development agenda is well on course noting that Sh60 billion has already been paid to contractors carrying out various development projects across the country.

He said that in Elgeyo Marakwet County alone, more than 10,000 households have already been connected to the national grid, adding that an ICT hub has also been set up in each ward which he said has created employment to thousands of youths.

President Ruto said 76,000 teachers have already been employed and 17,000 classrooms set up by his administration.

He said that another 1,600 laboratories were being set up in the country.

"Education is the only resource which will sharpen our human capital. That's the reason we are deploying resources to ensure that our children can be the best they can be," said the President.

"Those saying that we are not working, we will shame them. I'm not a mad man, I know what I'm saying," he added.

He was accompanied by MPs: Gideon Kimaiyo (Keiyo South), Adams Kipsanai (Keiyo North), Maryanne Kitany (Aldai) and Joseph Wainaina (Nominated).

Others included Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen, Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich, and area Senator William Kisang.

President Ruto pledged that a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) branch will soon be set up in Keiyo South Constituency.

He defended reforms in the health sector arguing that the Social Health Authority (SHA) has ensured that all Kenyans access affordable healthcare.

"We are committed to delivering universal affordable health to all Kenyans. Let's be part of the solution but not compound problems," said President Ruto.

Governor Rotich called on the government to address rampant cases of insecurity in Elgeyo Marakwet County which he noted was derailing development in the region.

According to Rotich, many schools remain closed in the region and decried that armed bandits have now resorted to attacking school children.

"Many of our people have been rendered paupers after livestock which was their major source of livelihood was wiped out by armed bandits. This should be checked," said Rotich.

President said the government will empower and equip KMTC institutions countrywide in a bid to assist the government in the delivery of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

CS Murkomen lauded residents in the vast Kerio Valley region for maintaining peace.

He pledged that the government will address conflicts resulting from boundary disputes in the area.

President Ruto dismissed critics of the Social Health Authority (SHA) and called on Kenyans to register in the programme to benefit from affordable health care.

He thanked peace ambassadors, religious leaders, political leaders, and elders for their efforts to preach peace in the region.

"Peace is the greatest ingredient for any meaningful development to be achieved in any part of the country. We have seen the hand of God in delivering our mandate to the people of Kenya," said President Ruto.

He said that the Kenya Kwana administration will open up the vast Kerio Valley for development in terms of infrastructure for them (residents) to enjoy the full dividends of peace.

The Head of State reminded parents and teachers that the 26 schools which had been vandalised by armed bandits, have already been rebuilt with the help of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
