KCB RFC extend perfect start with 43–19 triumph over Nakuru

KCB RFC head coach Andrew Amonde acknowledged a slow start but praised his side’s resilience.

KCB Rugby Football Club continued their perfect start to the 2025-2026 rugby 15-a-side season with a commanding 43–19 win over Nakuru RFC in a Kenya Cup clash at Nakuru Athletic Club on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

The Nakuru side famously known as Wanyore, struck first through a Javans Omondi penalty, but KCB responded quickly when Elvis Namusasi powered over for the opening try, converted by Levis Amunga. Omondi added a second penalty to keep Nakuru in touch before KCB asserted control. Bramwel Kilwake produced a superb solo effort from the scrum for KCB’s second try, and John Aswani crossed over soon after to stretch the visitors’ advantage. KCB went into halftime leading 19–12.

The Bankers dominated the second half, showcasing depth and pace. Tries from Dominic Sande, Austin Sikutwa, Andy Cole Omollo, and a second from Kilwake sealed a convincing bonus-point victory and underlined KCB’s title credentials.

Head coach Andrew Amonde acknowledged a slow start but praised his side’s resilience.

He noted that the match provided an opportunity to test squad depth, with several key players, including Samuel Asati, George Ooro, Festus Shiasi, Floyd Wabwire, Vincent Onyala, and Elvis Olukusi who are away on national duty with Shujaa and the Morans.

Elsewhere, defending champions Kabras Sugar humbled hosts Kisumu RFC 74-10, Enterprise Cup holders Menengai Oilers destroyed hosts Strathmore Leos 66-8, Nondescripts defeated hosts Kenya Harlequin 33-22 and KU Blak Blad also began the new year with a strong performance of 42-17 over visitors MMUST from Kakamega. Impala tasted their first win by beating newcomers Daystar Falcons.
