Kabras Sugar crush Nakuru RFC despite red card to stay unbeaten, top of Kenya Cup

Kabras Sugar RFC register 10th consecutive win over Nakuru RFC.

Fourteen-man Kabras Sugar and KCB maintained their winning ways at the top end of the Kenya Cup as the league produced another weekend of emphatic wins, narrow escapes and great comebacks across the country.

At Nakuru Athletic, defending champions Kabras Sugar extended their supremacy over hosts Nakuru RFC with a crushing 55–8 victory to stay top of the 12-team league and unbeaten this season.

Despite finishing the match with a man down after Ephraim Oduor was shown a red card, the sugarmillers from Kakamega County were clinical from start to finish.

George Nyambua opened the scoring, converted by Eric Cantona, before Kabras added two more converted tries to seize early control.

Jackson Siketi crossed for the visitors’ fourth try, again converted by Cantona, and William Mwanji added another before the break as Kabras stormed to a 35-3 halftime lead.

After the restart, Alfred Orege finished off a Cantona cross-kick for Kabras’ sixth try, followed by Jeanson Misoga, who moved his season tally to nine.

Derrick Ashihundu then scored after being put through by Mathias Osimbo.

Nakuru grabbed a consolation converted try after Kabras were reduced to 14, but the champions had the final word with one more try to seal a dominant away win.

At the Kenyatta University Grounds in Nairobi, KCB Rugby produced a ruthless first-half display to overpower hosts Blak Blad 45-3.

Mike Wekesa opened the scoring before Festus Shiasi added the second try.

Nick Okullo crossed against his former side, with the conversion stretching the lead to 19–3.

Fidel Maina continued his fine form with a try under the posts, converted by Brian Wahinya, before Levy Amunga added another, Wahinya again successful conversion.

AndyCole Omollo rounded off a devastating half to give KCB a 40-3 lead at the break.

After a delayed restart, Blak Blad defended bravely and conceded just one second-half try, scored by Sheldon Kahi from close range. Wahinya missed the conversion.

KCB went down to 14 men after Richel Wangila’s red card, but still closed out a comfortable win.

Menengai Oilers from Nakuru County edged hosts  Kenya Harlequin 22–17 in Nairobi to continue their strong recent record against Quins.

Gibson Weru's men struck first with a converted try before Patrick Wainaina responded for Quins, Faran Juma converting.

An unconverted Oilers try made it 12–7, but Jan Remke crossed under the posts and Juma’s conversion gave Quins a 14–12 halftime lead. After Quins were reduced to 14 men, Oilers scored again to lead 17–12. Juma levelled with a penalty, but Oilers’ late try sealed a narrow victory.

At Strathmore Sports Complex in Madaraka, Nairobi, Strathmore Leos claimed a dramatic 34-31 win over Daystar Falcons. Dennis Mbilah, Collins Maina and Nygel Amaitsa (two tries) scored for the hosts, with Arnold Muita adding conversions and a penalty. Daystar replied through Chris Obuya, Eddy Wambugu (two tries, conversions and a penalty) and Arnold Agonda, but fell just short.

In Kisumu, the hosts finally celebrated their first win of the season, stunning Impala RFC from Nairobi 29–22. Tries from Christopher Otieno, Manuel Weyusia, Walter Ambe and David Williams powered Kisumu’s comeback, while Meshack Andale, Tyson Okoth and Derrick Kinyari scored for Impala in a pulsating contest.
