Homicide detectives who are pursuing the gruesome murders of three(3) family members have identified the prime suspect in the monstrous killings.

Mr Hashim Dagane Muhumed is the main suspect in the macabre killings of a mother, daughter, and 12-year-old niece. The three(3) victims were residents of Eastleigh. They were buried at Lang'ata Cemetery.

Investigations conducted so far have established that Mr Dagane,24, was driving a Nissan Note car bearing Registration Number KDQ 718Y.

According to detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the car was captured on CCTV cameras picking the victims from their Eastleigh home on October 21, 2024, hours before their bodies were discovered scattered at various locations.

The vehicle was also found abandoned at Wakulima Market near ENA Coach stage and towed to DCI Headquarters for forensic examination, further linking Mr Dagane to the killings.

The driver who had it abandoned it near Wakulima Market has been traced to Ijara at the Kenya-Somalia border and a hunt on him is ongoing.

He could also be in Nairobi or any other part of the country, the detectives said.

"With one suspect in custody and assisting in the investigation, we appeal to anyone who may have information that could assist in the arrest of Hashim Dagane Muhumed," DCI said in a statement.

The investigative body has appealed to Kenyans with any information leading to the arrest of Mr Dagane to inform DCI by calling toll-free hotline 0800 722 203 or report at any police station.

Police said preliminary investigations show the three(3) were killed in a dispute over a ransom demand by their abductors.

Investigations have revealed the murdered women were attacked by people known to them for failing to pay the demanded ransom and identifying them while in captivity.

A suspect and a survivor of the murder have told police the killers had demanded ransom from the women, but became brutal when they realised the victims had identified them.
