The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) has reached out to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to resolve the ongoing teachers' strike through dialogue.

In a letter addressed to the TSC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nancy Macharia, Kuppet expressed its commitment to a peaceful resolution, emphasising its status as a law-abiding institution.

"In light of the fast moving dynamics of the strike, in particular the proceedings instituted in court by the commission, we would wish to handle the matters with you to avoid any protracted battles," said Kuppet Secretary General Akelo Misori.

The strike, which has significantly disrupted the academic calendar, led Kuppet to initiate communication to avoid prolonged legal battles.

The letter highlights the union's preference for stakeholder engagement over adversarial approaches, aiming to reach at a mutually agreeable return-to-work formula.

The ongoing strike, sparked by disputes over pay and working conditions, has garnered national attention, with thousands of teachers taking to the streets.

Kuppet's gesture signals a potential breakthrough in the deadlock, as both parties explore possibilities for a swift resolution.
