Champions Ruaraka in free fall as Swamibapa and Stray Lions cruise in NCCA T20 Cricket League

The weekend belonged firmly to Swamibapa A, who surged to the top of the table with 12 points and remain the league’s only unbeaten side.

Ruaraka “A” Cricket Team’s nightmare run in the Nairobi County Cricket Association (NCCA) T20 League deepened over the weekend after suffering humiliating back-to-back defeats to Stray Lions A and Swamibapa A.

The losses leave the reigning 50-Overs champions Ruaraka rooted at the bottom of the Super Division standings, still without a point since the tournament began in January 2026.

The weekend belonged firmly to Swamibapa A, who surged to the top of the table with 12 points and remain the league’s only unbeaten side.

Their rise came at the expense of Sir Ali Muslim Club A, who slipped to second place on 10 points after managing just one win and a bye.

Former champions Stray Lions A produced the most ruthless performance of the weekend, hammering Ruaraka A by a massive 121 runs on February 8, 2026, at Peponi School.

Openers Aman Gandhi and Irfan Karim put on a devastating display, both scoring centuries in a record-breaking opening stand.

Gandhi blasted 104 off 59 balls, while Karim struck an equally destructive 104 off 49, including nine fours and nine sixes. Their onslaught powered Stray Lions to a daunting 247 for 1. In reply, Ruaraka A were completely outclassed, managing only 126 for 6 in their 20 overs.

On February 7, 2026, at Jamhuri High School, Swamibapa A cruised to a commanding 10-wicket victory over Ruaraka A. Batting first, Ruaraka struggled to 108 for 5. Swamibapa’s openers Dhwanil Patel (46) and Pankaj Sanghani (61) made light work of the chase, reaching 109 without loss in just 13.3 overs.

Swamibapa completed a flawless weekend on Sunday with a 68-run win over Shree Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj (SCLPS A). Despite being bowled out for 144, their bowlers dismantled the opposition for 76.

Captain Sachin Gill starred with an all-round display, scoring 42 and taking two wickets to earn Player of the Match honours.

Sikh Union A edged Kanbis A by three runs in another  tense encounter, keeping their top-four hopes alive. Captain Sukhdeep Singh praised the collective effort, highlighting Jasraj Kundi’s all-round brilliance and youngster Yug Patel’s bowling.

Ngara SC defeated Nairobi Gymkhana A by six wickets, powered by Shivam Dewadi’s composed 66, while Sir Ali Muslim Club A beat SCLPS YL A by three wickets. Nairobi Gymkhana A also recorded a nine-wicket win over Stray Lions A on Saturday.

With the league heating up, Swamibapa A sit at the summit, followed closely by Sir Ali Muslim Club A and Stray Lions A. For Ruaraka A, however, the alarm bells are ringing loudly.

Once dominant champions, they now face the daunting task of reviving their campaign to avoid an unthinkable bottom-table finish.
