A family in Eldoret City is in agony after their daughter went missing mysterious while heading to school on Saturday.

Beryl Chemtai14, is reported that she left her Maili Nne home at the outskirts of Eldoret heading to AIC Kessup Girls in Elgeyo Marakwet County at 9.30am.

However, according to her father Mr Gilbert Chepkwony, reports from the school administration indicate that she never reported to the institution.

"We call on Kenyans of goodwill to volunteer any information which can lead to her whereabouts. We are very devastated as a family following her disappearance," Mr Chepkwony told AVDelta News.

Mr Chepkwony said his daughter who is a Form Two student has been going to school alone since she joined the school in 2024.

"Her class teacher usually calls me the moment the girl reaches the school but apparently he was not in school that Saturday," said Mr Chepkwony.

He said as parents they did not have any worry with that as the teacher had promised to inform them on Sunday.

They did not however talk on Sunday and it was only on Monday that they were informed that the girl was not in school.

"The girl was in high spirits when she left home for school and had not shown any signs of stress or disturbance," said Mr Chepkwony.

According to Mr Chepkwony, they were planning to move their daughter to a new school this year, but the process became a bit tedious.

“She had agreed to go back to her school. Beryl is a very disciplined and hardworking girl. We are hopeful of finding her soon for her to continue with her studies,” said Mr Chepkwony.

The family has since reported the case of missing person at Baharini Police Station in Uasin Gishu County.

Cases of missing children have been on the rise in the country sparking worry among parents.
